Whimsicality is a group exhibition that encapsulates all facets of the term whimsical. Each artist has created alternate realities or personas through their fantastical subject matter. Whether they are real or fictitious, the works allow the viewer to lose themselves in these unpredictable, facetious realms. Each piece holds their own sense of spontaneity and playfulness while others lean more towards the beautifully grotesque. There are many ranges of media are expressed in this 20 person exhibition including drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed media, sculpture and installation.

Work will be on display from July 16 to Aug 17.

Albany Center Gallery is now accepting submissions for the OUTPUT Graphic Design Regional!!

Enter the Capital Regions second annual graphic design regional. Any design project printed, published or aired for the first time from January 2012 through present day is eligible. Selected by a jury of leading design professionals, the winning entries will be featured in an exhibition during the month of September at Albany Center Gallery.

Submission of entries acknowledges the right for ‘Gallery’ publication, ‘exhibition promotion’ and exhibition.

Members and non-members living within 100 miles of Albany are encouraged to submit their best graphic design work for consideration in the upcoming show.

The top designs selected will be on exhibit at Albany Center Gallery during the month of September and all selected designers will receive a complimentary catalogue of selected work. In addition, the top three designers or firms chosen will be recognized at an Opening Reception Ceremony with our esteemed judges, Marty Hardin, a Troy based designer, Ronald Ladouceur of POSTMKTG and Jennifer Wilkerson of Aurora Design. They will select Best in Show; recipient will receive $500.

The Albany Center Gallery is currently hosting the 14th Annual High School Regional Juried Art Exhibition, featuring the work of more than 100 high school students from over 20 different school districts within the Capital Region.

The show was juried by a panel of four leading artists and educators: Ginger Ertz, Amy Griffin, Susan Schmader, and Leigh Wen.

Among these artists, Minnerys work, “Spring Bed #4” was decided upon by jurors Elizabeth Dubben, Tony Iadicicco, and Michael Janairo as the best piece in the show. All other honorable mentions include Chris Escobar, Chris DeMarco, Jenny Hutchinson and Raymond Puffer.
