Albany Center Galley provides a platform for the work of contemporary visual artists to address the public. For more than 30 years, Albany Center Gallery has encouraged dialogue and critical commentary for the community. Since Leslie Urbach opened the gallery’s doors in 1977, more than 250 exhibitions featuring more than 1,000 of the finest contemporary visual artists of the Mohawk Hudson Region have exhibited paintings, drawings, sculptures, photographs, prints, fiber arts, videos, mixed media and installations. The gallery is expanding its programming to include experimental music and performance art as the gallery situates itself as a contemporary art center for the community.

The mission of Albany Center Gallery is to exhibit and promote contemporary visual art produced by emerging and established artists living primarily within a 100-mile radius of Albany. We strive to inspire interest and provide enjoyment to an increasingly diverse audience.

Member’s Committee

October 6, 2009

Dear Member,

On behalf of the Board of Directors, thank you for supporting Albany Center Gallery with your gift of membership. Your support is an integral part of our legacy of exhibiting and promoting artwork in the Mohawk Hudson region. Your membership is so very important to us and we survive and thrive on the generosity of our members.

We are reaching out to all of our members in hopes that we can engage you further as we plan for future programs and exhibits by inviting you to become a member of our newly established Membership Committee.

The Membership Committee is for members by members.  Whether we meet to simply brainstorm, build and plan useful educational workshops tailored to your needs, expand exhibition opportunities, and/or build collaborations with other organizations and individuals - your input is needed to expand Albany Center Gallery and address our community’s ever-changing needs.

Times change, people change, and we believe change is a positive indication that progress is being made. Les Urbach’s vision has come into fruition and we are so fortunate that our region has a thriving arts community. The time has come for transformation and the gallery is responding to the times. We view the economic challenges we face as an opportunity to take a deep look into our mission and we are turning to you, as one of our most valuable resources, for input as we evolve into the next phase of development.

If you are interested in participating in this exciting planning committee, please me at (518) 462-4775 or director@albanycentergallery.org.  Our first meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 9 from 5:30 p.m - 6:30 p.m. at Albany Center Gallery and we hope to see you there!

Sincerely,
Sarah Martinez
