Albany Center Gallery will be having its fourth annual members show,
and you are encouraged to become a member of Albany Center Gallery.
Your membership in the amount of $50 (click
here to make a donation) entitles you to submit one ready to
hang artwork for the Members Show taking place November 11 to December
20, 2008. All artworks created after 2004 and in ready to hang condition
are eligible. We understand that $50 is a big stretch for some of
you with limited income, therefore; please know Albany Center Gallery
will acknowledge a contribution, no matter what size, as a gift
of membership. Your membership is crucial to the success of Albany
Center Gallery and significantly helps sustain our mission and expand
our programs.

This year, the juror of awards will be David
Miller, Director of the Schick Art Gallery and Professor of
Studio Art at Skidmore College. Miller received his M.S. in Painting
from the University of Wisconsin and his B.F.A. from the Art Institute
of Chicago. He has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions
and was honored in 2001 with a Forty Year Retrospective exhibition
at the Tang Museum. His work is displayed in several museums and
is in over 500 corporate and private collections. In addition, he
has received major grant awards including one from the National
Endowment for the Arts and another from the New York Foundation
for the Arts. Miller will select Best in Show and three honorable
mentions. A cash prize in the amount of $250 will be awarded to
the artist who created the Best in Show. A gift certificate to Arlene’s
Artist Materials will be presented to all honorable mentions. The
awards will be presented at the Opening Reception to be held on
Friday, December 5 between 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in conjunction
with 1st Friday.

It would be greatly appreciated if you would bring your favorite
dish or favorite bottle of wine to the opening reception since the
reception will be a potluck.

3 or 4 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Please know the gallery
will be unable to mail artwork back to you, so please pick up your
work on December 22 or 23 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Save the date for TOO MARVELOUS FOR WORDS, a benefit for Albany Center Gallery to be held on Saturday, November 22nd from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Peter D. Kiernan Plaza Bank of America Building located at 575 Broadway in Downtown Albany.

TOO MARVELOUS FOR WORDS will be an extraordinary evening filled with decadent food prepared by The Lily and The Rose, “Caterer to the Stars”, fabulous people, and glamorous gift packages. This year, Albany Center Gallery will honor Dr. Joel Spiro with the Les Urbach Lifetime Achievement Award for his dedicated service to Albany Center Gallery since its inception in 1977.
