Abraham Ferraro and Fernando Orellana
The
Albany Center Gallery announces a two-person show by noted local artists
Abraham Ferraro and Fernando
Orellana. The exhibition, titled “Enough Said,” opens on
Sept. 20 and will run through Oct. 29, 2011. An opening reception will be
held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15.
Both Ferraro and Orellana have been recognized and praised for avant-garde
and “on the fringe” contemporary art pieces – and ACG’s
organizers are excited to bring these two challenging artists together for
the first time at the gallery’s downtown Albany space.“Abe and
Fernando’s art make the viewer a key component,” says ACG Creative
Director Tony Iadicicco. “You can walk up to a piece and grasp it
right away … or it might take a while. But, either way, you won’t
forget it.”
Ferraro and Orellana’s works have been noted for presenting social-political
conversation in a sculptural and aesthetically challenging form. Both artists
have been active on the local contemporary sculpture scene in recent years,
and have exhibited their work at the Albany Institute of History & Art,
the Tang Teaching Museum (Saratoga Springs), the Fulton Street Gallery (Troy),
the Mandeville Gallery (Schenectady), and the University Art Museum (Albany),
among other venues.
Ferraro currently resides in Rensselaer, N.Y. He completed his Bachelor
of Fine Arts degree with a dual concentration in photography and sculpture
at SUNY Fredonia. He then earned a Master of Arts degree at the University
at Albany, followed in 2002 by a Master of Fine Arts degree in sculpture,
also from UAlbany.
Orellana currently resides in Schenectady, where he works as an Assistant
Professor of Electronic Art at Union College. He earned his Bachelor of
Fine Arts degree from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and received
his Master of Fine Arts degree from Ohio State University.
Enough Said will run from Sept. 20 to Oct. 29, 2011. The public is invited
to attend the opening reception from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct.
15.
