Masks. Art. History.
On December 1, 2012, mystery meets elegance at one of Downtown Albany’s most historic and opulent locations, The State Room.
Albany Center Gallery presents Through the Decades, a masquerade-themed celebration of 35 years of local art and culture. Thirty-five leading regional artists of yesterday and today will unveil their specially commissioned, one-of-a-kind mask designs, with a Top Five chosen for center stage display and live purchase.
Mask-wearing guests in elegant attire will mingle with some of the most creative and prominent people of the local art and business worlds, with catered food and drink complementing one of the year’s most anticipated silent auctions of exclusive local art and retail items.
James E. Panton will receive the annual Les Urbach Lifetime Achievement Award for his long history of dedicated support for Albany Center Gallery, and the recipient of the gallery’s inaugural Artist of the Year award – selected from the past year’s exhibition calendar – will be announced and awarded a $1,000 prize.
Albany Center Gallery is a non-profit, community-based and -supported organization dedicated to exhibiting skillful contemporary art of the Mohawk Hudson region and to building a strong, knowledgeable audience for the visual arts. Since its founding in 1977, more than 1,000 artists have exhibited at Albany Center Gallery and more than 500,000 local residents and visitors have been exposed to the wide variety of visual art showcased in the gallery’s spaces.
